In May 2024 the MIA participated in a stakeholder briefing hosted by Ports of Auckland Ltd (POAL).

Included in the update, POAL will be embarking on an infrastructure upgrade over the next 2-5 years which includes changes to the Bledisloe North Wharf which is used for vehicle deliveries and storage, to also accommodate some cruise ship traffic which is being relocated. This will lead to some loss of capacity, but POAL says there is more than enough capacity to accommodate these changes.

POAL also advise they plan to raise their access fees from next year. The current and proposed fees relating to car transporter movements are illustrated in the table below. EDI refers to POALs system that is capable of receiving messages from an external system to reduce manual work. Your freight forwarders will know whether this system applies to your stock movements.
